Chittagong Vikings composed a huge 10-wicket win over Sylhet Super Stars in their Twenty20 cricket match of the 3rd Bangladesh Premier League at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday.
Batting first Sylhet Super Stars scored 139 for the loss of eight wickets in the regulation 20 overs.
In reply, Chiittagong Vikings stormed into the victory target making 140 for the loss of none with remaining 23 balls.
Chittagong Vikings showed a booming performance as Tamim Iqbal and TM Dilshan, the two openers put on together 140 runs in the opening stand.
TM Dilshan remained unbeaten with 67. His 46-ball innings was studded with six fours and three sixes while Tamim Iqbal also remained unbeaten with 67. His 51-ball knock was laced with eight fours.
Sylhet Super Stars faced a calamity as they lost their early six wickets for 63 runs. Then Shahid Afridi and Sohail Tanvir rescued their team contributing together 60 runs for the seventh wicket partnership before Sohail Tanvir was caught at the backward point by Ziaur Rahman off Shafiul Islam when Sylhet’s score was 123 for the loss of seven wickets.
Shahid Afridi restored some parity for Sylhet Super Stars hitting a plucky 62. His 41-ball innings was decorated with four sixes and five fours. He was cleanly bowled out by Mohammad Amir when Sylhet’s total was 125 for the loss of eight wickets.
Sohail Tanvir scored 17 from 16 balls with one four and one six.
Earlier, two batsmen of Sylhet Super Stars were the victim of run out.
Sylhet’s skipper Mushfiqur Rahim failed to open his account. He was trapped leg before wicket by Taskin Ahmed.
Mominul Haque (9), the other notable batsman of Sylhet Super Stars also failed. He was caught by Tamim Iqbal off Shafiul Islam.
Shafiul Islam bagged a pair of wickets instead of 37 runs while Mohammad Amir, Bilawal Bhatti, Taskin Ahmed and Asif Hasan took one wicket each for 18, 20, 27 and 31 runs respectively.
