Chuadanga District Agriculture Extension (DAE) Department has fixed the target to cultivate jute on 20,440 hectares of land in the current season.
Of the total land, 3,200 hectares of land will be brought under jute cultivated in Chuadanga sadar upazila, 8,000 hectares in Alamdanga upazila, 7,240 hectares in Damurhuda upazila and jute will be cultivated on 2,000 hectares of land in Jibonagar upazila.
DAE source said 73,580 metric tons of jute is expected to be produced in the district if climate remains favourable.
District Agriculture Extension Department has ensured smooth supply of fertilizer, seeds and insecticide at fair price to make the jute cultivation successful in the district in the present season.
