Customs intelligence officials seized 870 cartons of illegally imported foreign brand cigarettes worth Tk 52.20lakh from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport HSIA here on Monday morning.
Tipped off, a team of customs intelligence officials conducted a drive at the lost and found section of the airport and recovered the cigarettes, said Dr Mohammad Shahidul Ialam, director general of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
The cigarettes were brought to Dhaka by a flight of Saudi Arabian Airlines from Jeddah that landed at the airport on Saturday.
