Chittagong Port Authority, which has been in illegal possession for a long time, has recovered more than 20 kathas of land worth hundreds of crores of rupees. After taking the lease, the places were occupied by various tactics. Attempts were also made to occupy the places by creating complications through litigation. But due to the strict position of the port authorities, the valuable land in the Fishery Ghat area has finally come under the control of the port authorities.
Sources said that about 20 years ago, two persons named Sheikh Jobayer and Jahed leased 20 kathas of land in Fisherighat area from Chittagong port. Initially the lease was paid but later the money due to the port was withheld. The lawsuit was settled out of court. Which rolls up to the High Court. When the High Court dismissed the case a few days ago, the Chittagong Port Authority launched an eviction drive on Monday morning. The operation was led by the port’s executive magistrate Sadia Afrin Kochi.
