Staff Reporter :The Customs Department seized at least 250 cartons of smuggled foreign cigarettes from the city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Tuesday morning.No arrest has so far been made in this connection, customs officials sources said.Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department’s Assistant Director Umme Nahida said that a team of customs officials recovered the cigarettes of Esse Special Gold Brand of South Korea in two bags in an abandoned condition in the Belt Area of the Customs Hall at around 5:00am.The bags containing the cigarettes might have been brought in Qatar Airways flight from Doha, the customs officials said. Meanwhile, customs officials seized 250 more cartons of smuggled foreign cigarettes of the same brand brought in an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah on Monday evening, she said.
