The post of judge in Chittagong Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-3 has been vacant for a year led to accumulation of huge cases in relation . In the meantime, more than two thousand cases have been filed in this tribunal. The case has been growing since Judge Jannatul Ferdous was transferred to the Human Trafficking Crimes Tribunal on March 5 last year. Judicial activities have come to a standstill. This has increased the suffering of the trial seekers.
The trial of this court is currently going on with the acting judge. Lawyers and aspirants have demanded the appointment of a judge in the Chittagong Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-3 as soon as possible.
According to court sources, cases of violence against women and children in Sandwip, Raozan, Rangunia and Patia upazilas are heard at the Chittagong Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-3. Judge Habibur Rahman of the Chittagong Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-5 is performing additional duties in this court.
It has been observed that the officials and employees of the Chittagong Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-3, located on the 6th floor of the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Building, are spending their time lazily. The case is not being heard as there is no judge.
Nazrul Islam Sentu, Special Public Prosecutor of Chittagong Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-3, told that Judge Jannatul Ferdous of Chittagong Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal-3 was transferred on March 5 last year. No other judge has been appointed since then.
