Around a number of 75 betel leaf orchard was gutted in a devastating fire at Mohanpur upazila in Rajshahi district recently.
The incident happed at Bishara village under Jahanabad union of the upazila. Three farmers were injured in this connection whom has been admitted to local health complex for their treatment.
The loss in the fire was estimated at around Tk 1 crore, claimed the victim farmers.
According to locals and eyewitnesses, the fire originated from electric shot circuit at Mannan’s betel leaf orchard at first and then a number of 75 orchards adjacent to his gutted within 40 to 50 minutes only.
Later being informed, a fire fighting team of Tanore unit brought the fire under control after utmost efforts.
Mohanpur upazila project implementing employee and also Jahanabad union chairman Amaz Uddin Khan, upazila parishad chairman Abdus Samad and UNO Sanowar Hossain already visited the incidental place and they assured the victim farmers that highest cooperation from government would be provided as soon as possible in this regard.
