Dhaka, Aug 18 (UNB) – A total of 8,99,150 students have passed this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examination showing a pass rate of 74.70 percent.
Education Minister Nurul Islam revealed the briefs of the HSC and equivalent examination results on Thursday morning after officially handing over the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban.
The pass rate in the HSC and equivalent exams last year was 69.60 percent where some 7,38,872 students passed the examination.
The Education Minister said some 12,03,640 students took part in the HSC and equivalent exams of all the 10 boards, including Madrasah Education Board and Technical Education Board this year with examinees 1,42,026 sitting for the exams, with 10,61,614 higher than last year’s.
He said some 58,276 examinees in all the education boards got GPA Five this year, up from last year’s 42,894.
Besides, some 25 educational institutions witnessed zero pass rate this year against last year’s 35.
After receiving the results, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina congratulated the students as well as the teachers, and guardians for the successes of the students.
