The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and its equivalent examinations 2019 began on Monday across the country.
No incident of question paper leakage was reported at any centre yesterday.
A total of 13,51,505 examinees (6,87,009 females and 6,64,496 males) from 9,081 institutions sat for the examinations under 10 education boards at 2,579 centres across the country.
This year, a total of 275 students are taking part in the examinations at eight centres abroad. Most of the candidates entered the examination centres 30 minutes before the examinations according to the previous decision of the Education Ministry.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni visited the Siddheswari Girls’ College Centre in the capital in the morning.
She said, no question paper leak would take place during HSC and equivalent examinations like this year’s SSC examinations.
She urged students and guardians to ignore the rumours as the government took “stringent measures” to prevent question leaks in the ongoing higher secondary certificate examinations.
Law-enforcement agencies are quite active to prevent the rumours about question leaks prior to the examinations, the Minister said.
“They are keeping a sharp eye on the issue just like they did during the SSC examinations. Strong measures will be taken against those engaged in spreading rumours, or cheating people.”
“I hope the HSC examinations will be held fairly,” she said.
“Whoever prepares the questions, or moderate it , never get to see the question paper after printing it. None from the education board or the Ministry sees it. Most people are unaware of these facts.”
Dipu Moni described the HSC examinations as a big task. “No matter how big and hard it is, it becomes easy when everyone supports us.”
For preventing question paper leak, the Ministry also instructed all coaching centres across the country to remain close from April 1 to May 6.
Theoretical examinations will end on May 11, while the practical tests will be held from May 12 to May 21.
