HSBC Bangladesh has appointed Md Mahbub-ur Rahman as its first ever home-grown chief executive officer (CEO).
Presently, he has been serving the banking and financial services organisation as its deputy chief executive officer.
Mahbub will take over Francois de Maricourt, now the acting as chief executive of HSBC Bangladesh.
A source said the central bank received an application from HSBC Bangladesh, seeking its nod for appointing Mahbub-ur Rahman as the bank’s new CEO.
On Thursday last, Governor Fazle Kabir approved the application, said a Bangladesh Bank insider.
