National Human Right Commission (NHRC) on Saturday called for stopping all sorts of extra-judicial killings immediately.
“Extra-judicial killing cannot continue in the country whatever excuse is cited. It should be stopped immediately,” NHRC Chairman Professor Mizanur Rahman said.
He was speaking at a discussion, marking the second anniversary of the monthly magazine Manabadhikar Khabor at Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council’s auditorium in the capital.
Mizanur Rahman said when they took office in
2010, they protested the extra-judicial killing vehemently and it seemed that the extra-judicial killing had come down to “zero percent.”
“But recently, we observe that the extra-judicial killing has come back in guise of banduk juddha,” he said.
About the death of a youth in police custody at Mirpur, the NHRC chairman said they were investigating the matter and would submit their findings with recommendations to the government soon.
