HPWC demands lessening of Hajj, Omra fare

In a recent joint statement of the President and the Secretary General of Hajj Pilgrims Welfare Councl (HPWC), Chittagong Ahmedul Islam Chowdhury and Principal Dr.,Abdul Karim respectively demanded decrease of air fare for Hajj and Omra pilgrims to help facilitate the pilgrimage of the aspirants.
The statement was told that Saudi Govt recently lifted ban of Omra visa on Bangladeshi nationals. HPWC mentioned that the air fare of other private airlines on Dhaka-Jeddah is comparatively less than the Bangladesh Biman. The HPWC urged the concerned authority to consider the air fare for easing the pilgrimage expenses in the coming Hajj season .
It also mentioned that the Hajj fare is almost 3 times more than the normal fare on Dhaka-Jeddah route. The statement also urged the Bangladesh Biman authority to introduce flights in between Dhaka-Madina which will be more comfortable for the pilgrims to perform Hajj or Omra.
HPWC sought intervention of the Prime Minister to consider the air fare to a affordable stage and govt should be more cautious against the human trafficking in disguise of Omra and Hajj, sources said.
