Simon Helmut, the head coach of Bangladesh High Performance (HP) Unit insisted that the programme has started fetching the results with some of the players has already became the backbone of national team while some are waiting for their chances.
His comment came in the contrary of popular belief when some remains pessimistic about the pipeline of Bangladesh cricket.
But Helmut showed the stat and presented the performance of the HP players who made the cut in the national team by playing well.
Having showed that he said it was a seamless transition as the players got the opportunity to make them prepared to take the pressure of International cricket by practicing in HP Programme all the year round.
He said the players like Liton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman all came through HP programme and now have been the vital cogs of the national team.
“I think we will continue to do that. We saw Shadman Islam going into the side, we have seen that with Saifuddin, we have seen that with the number of players,” Helmut said here on Saturday.
HP is the programme where the young players were nursed while they also work with the out-of-form player to help them regain their aura.
In Bangladesh, the A team and aged level is formed basically with the HP players. Although there is some confusion about the definition of Bangladesh A team, Helmut said the HP and A team needs to work in collaboration to reach the ultimate goal.
“Also, we had some players who come back from the national side. Guys like Soumya who have been involved in the A program. And A program and HP program needs to work in collaboration. There will be some similar players. We want to continue to do that,” he said.
Helmut said HP has a close look on national team regarding what they needs at the moment and they do the work accordingly.
“We want to provide spinners for the country to provide support to Shakib and others. We need to keep providing all-rounders to support Saifuddin and others. We need to provide good top-order batsman so that we are going to be a strong position not just this years for the years to come. Look at Liton Das-just three years ago he was involved in the HP program and now he is a regular member.”
“We have seen Ebadat and Khaled come through. They have been the most recent bowlers to come through. We have seen Rahi come through. At the moment there are exciting players like Mishu, Shohidul. These guys are going to get their opportunity after Eid in the under 23 series so we look forward to seeing these guys in action and can tell you how good they are.”
