Internationally acclaimed Bangladeshi film actress Farida Akhtar Bobita always feels bad for her only son Anik, who is staying in Canada now. Bobita believes that when the corona situation will be improved in the world she will meet her son. In fact, she is worried in this regard. Though the corona situation in Canada is better now but Anik has to maintain his office works from home. According to Bobita, Anik only came out from home in the morning to breath fresh air and talk with her mother on Skype in two times in a day. But Bobita cannot get relief from it. If the situation is favourable she must go to Canada to meet her son. She will pass beautiful moments there with her son. However, she always prays for her son as he remains well there and she can meet him soon.
Bobita’s family name is Poppy. After starting acting in film her name became Bobita. While talking in this regard Bobita told this correspondent, “My parents kept my name Farida Akhtar Bobita. My nick name Poppy was also given by them. Late Zahir Raihan directed Sangsar was my first acted film. In that film, I acted against Mahmud Sajjad. Later, when respected director Noor-ul-Haq selected me to cast in his film Jalte Suraj Ke Nichey during that time noted cinematographer Afzal Chowdhury named me Bobita. Then I became popular by name Bobita to all. I truly say that the name Poppy does not attract me now because many respect, achievements, emotions and loves are attached with the name Bobita.”
Bobita also informed that film Jalte Suraj Ke Nichey did not release during that time. After several years of my acting career the film was released. After that film, I acted against late Razzak in film Shesh Porjonto under coordination by late Zahir Raihan. This film was released on August 14 in 1969. That film became super-hit and after that Bobita stepped forward as a heroine.
“I got Tk 12,000 as my remuneration for acting in film Shesh Porjonto and bought a new car by that amount. But I couldn’t show that car to my mother because she died before,” Bobita shared it emotionally.
