Md Abdul Khalek Sheikh, father of Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, died on Sunday morning at the age of 90.
Abdul Khalek breathed his last at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka around 7:20 am.
He was suffering from old- age complications.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock and condoled the death of Abdul Khalek Sheikh. In a condolence message on Sunday, the Prime Minister prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family. His first Namaz-e-Janaza was held on the minister’s Bailey Road residence at 10am.
Ministers, high court judges, members of parliament, government high officials and lawyers attended the Namaz-e-Janaza, among others.
