A housewife was allegedly strangulated to death by her in-law’s over a family feud at Asra village in Debidwar upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Shahida Begum, 21, wife of Abu Kaisar Mia of the village.
Quoting local people, Zahirul Anwar, officer-in-charge of Debidwar Police Station, said Abu Kausar used to torture Shahida for dowry since their marriage.
On Monday night, the couple had an altercation as Shahida wanted to go to her father’s house as her father was suffering from cancer.
At one stage, Kausar along with his family members beat Shahida up mercilessly, leaving her severely injured.
