A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Monoharpur Village under Monirampur upazila of Jashore district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Hiramon Khatun, 27, daughter of Mosiar Rahman of the upazila.
Quoting deceased’s family members, police said Monirul islam, 35, son of Nisar Dhabok of the village, had been torturing his wife Hiramon Khatun since their marriage eleven years ago.
At one stage of altercation over the issue on Wednesday night, Monirul islam beaten Hiramon with a Bamboo stick, leaving her seriously injured.
Family members took her to Jashore General Hospital, where the doctors declared her to dead.
Rafiqul Islam , officer in charge Moniampur Police Station said , police arrested Monirul Islam on Thursday early, following a case filed by the victim’s father accusing Monirul .
