A housewife was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband for protesting extramarital relationship at Gajaria village in Sirajganj Sadar Upazila of the district on Friday. Police recovered the dead body and sent it to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital morgue.
The deceased was identified as Aisha Khatun, 30, wife of Nur Nobi and mother of three. The locals and family members alleged that, Aisha, daughter of Late Abdul Mondol, resident of Chilgasa village, got married with Nur Nabi, assistant teacher of Shoratoil high school, son of Shah Kamal of Gojaria about 18 years ago.
But recently Nur Nabi got into extramarital relationship with a woman that triggers misunderstanding between them. As Aisha protested several times, she would have to face extreme physical and mental torture very often. In the same sequence, when their wrangle reached the final stage on Friday, then Nur Nabi strangled Aisha by pressing her throat and hangs her with ceiling fan trying to spread the incident as suicide.
OC of Sirajganj Sadar Thana, Mohammad Daowud Said, police recovered the dead body from the spot and sent it to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy and Nur Nabi was arrested immediately after the incident.
A case of unnatural death has been filed up in this regard.
