A housewife was allegedly killed at Shaila village under Monirampur upazila in Jessore on Tuesday. The police, however, claimed that the housewife committed suicide by taking pesticide.
The victim was identified as Ruma Khatun,25, wife of Sagor Hossain of Shaila village and daughter of late Izzat Ali of Shyamkur village under the same upazila.
Mokarram Hossain, officer in-charge, Monirampur police station told that the women committed suicide on Sunday evening. ‘Post mortem examination of the deceased was made at Jessore General Hospital.
Abu Bakar Mollah, an uncle of the victim told Newsmen that his niece was murdered by her husband for dowry. ‘He fled his residence after killing Ruma,’ Abu Bakar added.
Shahidul Islam, cousin of the housewife told Newsmen that Sagor was given Tk five lakh along with a motorbike in last five years as dowry. But he emanded more recently.
