UNB, Sirajganj :
A newly-wed woman was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband for dowry at Dhulirchar in Belkuchi upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mukta Khatun,19, daughter of late Motiar Rahman of Khukni village under Enyetpur thana.
Quoting victim’s family police said Mukta’s husband Faruq Hossain used to torture her for brining Tk 1 lakh and two tolas of gold from her father’s house since their marriage two and a half months ago.
At one stage of torture, Faruq strangled Mukta to death early Monday and fled the scene along with his family members, police said.
A case was filed in this connection.
