A housewife was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband as she protested her illicit relationship in Bostapotti area of the district town early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Sanjida, 22, wife of Babu, a resident of the area.
Family members said Sanjida, daughter of Korban Ali, a resident of Jhumjhumpur area, got married with Babu nine months ago.
Babu got into illicit relationship with a woman and passed much of his time daily talking with her over the phone to annoyance of his wife.
An as Sanjida protested it, she would have to face torture by Babu.
The victim’s family alleged that Babu strangulated Sanjida as she protested her husband’s affair.
Babu took Sanjida’s body to Jessore 25-bed Hospital around 4am and told the doctors there that Sanjida committed suicide.
Her family members also said that there was not seen any sign of suicide anywhere.
However, Babu went into hiding after the incident.
