A housewife was allegedly strangulated to death by her husband and in-laws at Alipur village in Sadar upazila early Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Nafiza Khatun Moyna, 25, wife of Mukhlesur Rahman, a resident of the village.
Moyna was a teacher at a Brac-run school.
Family members of the victim said Moyna had made a saving of Tk50,000 from her monthly salary and deposited the money in a bank account, in the names of her two daughters, on Wednesday.
As she did it not giving the money to her husband, as he demanded earlier, he got furious.
Later, Mukhlesur along with his family members tortured her mercilessly.
At one stage, they strangled Moyna and hanged her body with a ceiling fan to make it appear as a suicide incident.
Officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar Police Station Emadul Haque Sheikh said police recovered the body and sent it to morgue for an autopsy.
