A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband for dowry at Haria Deara Village under Jhikorgacha upazila of Jashore district on Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Hira Khatun, 20, daughter of Mominur Rahman of Sharof Rajpur village in Chowgacha upazila of the district.
Mominur Rahman , father of the deceased, said Golam Rasul 30, son of Abdus Samad of the Upazila , had been torturing his wife Hira Khatun since their marriage three years ago.
Hira’s family has given at least two lakh taka to her husband’s family for the happiness of the girl. Last six months ago, Mominur Rahman gave his daughter’s dowry to Tk 30,000 for business. On Saturday night, Golam Rasul again asked his wife to take dowry Tk 50,000 from his father’s house.
At one stage of altercation over the issue on, Golam Rasul strangled Hira, leaving her seriously injured.
Family members took her to Jashore Medical College Hospital, where the doctors declared her to dead.
Jhikorgacha Police Station’s Sub-Inspector Tobarok Ali said that there is a mystery behind death. The families of the deceased have accuse the murders. To find out the exact cause of death, wait till the autopsy report.
