A housewife was killed as her scarf got tangled with one of the wheels of a human-hauler in the city’s Bhatara area on Friday.
The victim was known as Anamika Sarker, wife of Palash Sarker of East Bhatara. Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said Anamika along with her two twin sons, aged around 7, and a neighbour was going to a market in Shahjadpur area by the human-hauler, a battery-run three-wheeler, in the afternoon.
When they reached Natun Bazar, the housewife’s scarf got tangled with a wheel of the vehicle around 5:30pm.
Anamika was strangled as the scarf tightened around her neck, leaving her unconscious.
She was taken to a local clinic from where she was shifted to the DMCH where on-duty doctors declared her dead around 7:30 pm.
