One housewife was allegedly killed by her husband and mother in-law on Thursday night at Bahir Signal area at Chandgaon in the port city.
The victim was identified as Pinky Nath (25), wife of Shiblu Kumar Nath and daughter of Ajit Nath.
Sonjoy Dev Nath, the brother of the victim said his sister Pinky locked in altercation with her husband and mother in law last night. “They beat her up severely causing her death,” he alleged. He further said that husband and mother in law of Pinky used to torture regularly for dowry. They also used to beat her many times for dowry.
Saiful Islam, Officer in Charge of Chandgaon thana said, the family members of the victim including her husband called police saying that Pinky committed suicide.
However, police rushed to the spot and recovered the hanging body of the victim. Meanwhile, police sent the body of the victim to morgue for autopsy. After getting the postmortem report, police will confirm about the suicide or murder of the victim, Saiful Islam added.
