A housewife died after she jumped from the rooftop of a seven-storey building at Kalyanpur in the capital on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Sadia, 18, wife of Badsha Mia of the area. Inspector Mozammel, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp, said Sadia sustained injuries as she jumped from the rooftop of the building at House No-16 on the Road No-2 in Kalyanpur at around 6:00am.
Critically injured, Sadia was rushed to the DMCH where she succumbed to
her injuries at around 7:00am.
Police detained four people, including the victim’s husband Badsha and her mother-in-law Shahnaj Begum, from DMCH as they gave different information regarding the incident to police and handed over them to Mirpur thana for interrogation.
Shahnaj told reporters that she had found Sadia in the city’s Saidabad area 16 years back and later she (Sadia) was married with her ( Shahnaj) son Badsha.
Sadia jumped from the rooftop of the building in a bid to commit suicide due to family feud, Shahnaj added.
