A house wife was raped in the presence of her husband in a Kaliganj village could not be rescued in 15 hours of the rape incident. The police at last arrested two of the criminals as per the order of the local law maker of Jhenaidah-4 constituency Anwarul Azim Anar, locals alleged.
The victim was identified as Arjina Khatun, 22, wife of Rajan Hossain, son of Abdul Kader of Andulbaria village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila. She was a daughter of Abul Hossain of Ghoramara village of Jhenaidah Sadar.
The locals said, both Rajan and his wife Arjina were waiting at main bus stoppage at Kaliganj town at about 8.30 pm for the transport. Shiplu, son of Abul Kashem motivated the couple at the bus stoppage and requested them to stay in his house safely.
At about 2 PM, Shiplu’s elder brother Hasan, professionally a drug peddler, Ibrahim alias Ibra and Jahurul and Prakash Kumar of the same village and Abdul Alim of Gorela village in Jhenaidah Sadar took the couple at Paikpara Gorsthanpara. They tied Rajan with a near by tree with ropes. The miscreants started gang raping the house wife in front of the husband till Monday morning. The miscreants also looted gold ornaments and cash from the couple then. Later the miscreants left the scene taking the house wife with them, the locals said.
The husband in the early hours of Monday any how managed to flee and rushed to local police station at Kaliganj to inform the matter to police. But the police men attending there allegedly denied of considering the appeal of Rajan. The police rather advised him to come once again after 9.00 am.
As Rajan told the matter to his near and dear ones including the musallees of a near by mosquein the town, they met the local law maker Anwarul Azim Anar and he (law maker) criticized the police men and advised them to rescue the the house wife at no delay. Then the police arrested two of the rapists.
Kaliganj Gorshthanpara Jame Mosque general secretary Mustafizur Rahman said, as he was informed, met the law maker and told him in detail what the police men did with Rajan.
