Police recovered a body of a housewife from a pond located nearby Jonakalyan bazar area of Balaganj upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Safia Begum, 27, wife of Ponki Mia of Koluma village and daughter of Khachim Ullah of Goyashpur Lamapara village of the upazila, said Officer-in-charge of Balaganj Police Station SM Jalal Uddin Ahmed.
The OC said that Safia Begum, a mother of four children, went to local Jonakalyan bazar on Tuesday evening to buy food for her seven-month-old twins and did not return to home. Later, her body, with several injury marks, was found in a pond nearby Jonakalyan bazar.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Deceased’s husband Ponki went into hiding immediately after the incident, said the OC.
