A housewife was found dead at Chandgaon village in Nalitabari upazila on Thursday.
Quoting family sources, police said Monika Begum, 22, wife of Rakibul Hasan Rakib of Ranigaon village, along with her husband went on a visit to her grandfather’s house at Chandgaon village on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha on Wednesday.
Getting no response from the room where the couple was sleeping, Harejul Islam, grandfather of Monika, pressed the door open only to get Monika dead inside on Thursday morning, while Rakib’s whereabouts could not be found.
On information, police rushed in and sent the body to Sherpur Sadar Hospital morgue.
Rakib might have strangled Monika as an injury mark was found on her mouth, said Gias Uddin, sub-inspector of Nalitabari Police Station.
