UNB, Narail :
A young housewife was found dead in her house at Bamonhat village of Sadar upazila on Friday morning.
Locals said as they saw the house door open in the morning, they entered it and found Nasreen, 20, wife of farmer Babul Fakir, hanging and informed police.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue. However, Babul went into hiding after the incident.
The victim’s relatives alleged that her husband strangulated her to death over dowry.
They said Nasreen was married off to Babul Fakir, son of late Shafiur Fakir, one and a half years back and since then, Babul used to torture her wife for dowry from her father.
Victim’s elder sister Yeasmin said they provided money to Babul in several times.
Sub-Inspector of Narail Sadar Police Station Wahidur Rahman said they recovered the hanging body of the woman. “It’ll be clear whether the incident was a murder or suicide after getting the postmortem report.”
