Police recovered a housewife’s half-molten body from a rented house in College Gate area of Khagrachhari District town on Friday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Rozina Begum, 25, daughter of Md. Rashed, resident of Shantinagar area of the district town.
Officer-in-Charge of Khagrachari Sadar Police Station Muhammad Rashid said, locals informed the police about the bad odor inside the locked room. Police broke the lock and rescued the housewife’s half-molten body from inside the house. It is initially assumed that two or three days ago, husband Monir Hossain, 35, strangled and killed his wife. The husband has been absconding since the incident.
The body was sent to Khagrachhari District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy, OC added.
Anwara Begum, owner of the rented house, said, “Easy-bike driver Monir Hossain and his wife Rozina Begum hired the house in this month”.
The mother of the deceased, Shirina Begum, said, two and a half years ago, Rozina got love marriage with Monir Hossain, a resident of Taindong union of Matiranga Upazila. There was a conflict between them since marriage”.
