A woman died mysteriously at her husband’s house near Hoaikong check post under Teknaf upazila here on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Salma Akter, wife of Ali Ahmad alias Kala Mia of the area.
Maternal uncle of the victim Delwar Hossen said Salma, daughter of Kabir Driver of Chhila Paschim Sikderpara under the upazila, was married to Ali Ahmad in 2014. They became parents of a girl child in their marital life.
But, since the marriage, the husband and his relatives used to torture Salma for dowry. They might have killed her fastening a rope around her neck, Delwar alleged.
In-Charge of Hoaikong Police Camp Sub-Inspector (SI) Ariful Islam said, “We recovered the body from the floor of the house. But, no injury mark was found on it. After getting the autopsy report, the cause of the death would be clear.” If any complaint is lodged, police will investigate the matter, the SI added.
