An Honours class student and housewife of an expat allegedly committed suicide hanging in her dwelling room at Patwaribari at Waruk area under Shahrasti Upazila in the afternoon recently. The victim was identified as Jannatun Nayeem, 22, wife of an expat Twokir Ahmed. He married her four years ago as it was a love match. Later, he went abroad to change the wheel of his fortune leaving the wife at his home. Taking this chance, one Hasan ,22, son of Harun Patwary, of the same home would often tease her, stalk her and at times offered her bad proposals which she spurned at once. On the day of the incident, when her mother in law Parul Begum went to make shopping at Hajiganj Bazar, Jannatun went to have bath in her bathroom as usual. Then lewd Hasan looked at her body through a hole which was not known to her earlier. Later he told others about this thing. He also told the matter to Jannatun Nayeem which naturally angered her and filled her with great anger, shame, regret and grief. He at once informed the matter to her spouse about it seeking justice from him about this dreadful and sensitive matter on his return home from abroad. Later, out of great grief and shame, she committed suicide by hanging herself from ceiling in her dwelling room. Then, a small girl saw it and shouted. On getting information, Police recovered the hanging body and sent it to the Chandpur General Hospital on Eid day. A case was filed by her mother- in- law Parul Begum in this connection accusing Hasan as main accused. He has gone into hiding since the incident -said OC Shahrasti Model Thana Md Shah Alam adding that efforts are on to nab Hasan.
