A domestic help was burned to death as a fire broke out in a flat of building at Dakhshin Bishil under Darus Salam thana on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Liza Akhter, 17, daughter of Nazrul Islam, hailing from Barguna district. She used to work on the 4th floor of seven-storey ‘Johura Garden’ building on Road No 5.
Ishrafil Hossain, sub-inspector of Darus Salam Police Station, said that the fire originated from an air-conditioner in the flat around 10:30am and Liza suffered burn injuries.
Being rescued, she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared her dead, said the SI adding that the house owner and his wife were not at home when the accident occurred.
