A dwelling house belonging to one Monirul Islam (38) from village Zaria-Baruidanga within Lokpur Union under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district was completely gutted when some unidentified miscreants set fire to it in the mid night of Saturday taking the opportunity of the absence of its all the inmates. The loss of fire was estimated at Taka several thousand.
It is learnt from the locals that an enmity had been prevailing between house-owner Monirul Islam and his opponents-Iqbal Shaikh and his brothers Shahjahan Shaikh, Ibrahim Shaikh and Mijan Shaikh of the same village for long over the ascertaining the demarcation line between 2 plots of lands- one plot belonging to Monirul Islam and the other belonging to Iqbal and his 3 brothers.
On Saturday Morning when Monirul Islam came out from his house along with his 2 years old baby Jannat the opponents who were laying in ambush earlier suddenly fell on him and began to beat him mercilessly with lethal weapons.
On hearing the cry Monirul Islam’s wife Reshma Begum (30) rushed to the spot and when she tried to rescue her husband the opponents also beat her severely.
On information some neighbouring people rushed to the spot, rescued injured Monirul, his wife and daughter and admitted them to the local Upazila Health Complex in critical condition.
But considering the gravity of Monirul’s injuries they all were shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Taking the opportunity of their absence from the house some unidentified miscreants set fire to the dwelling house of Monirul.
As a result, the house along with its all belongings was completely burnt to ashes. Consequently, seriously injured Monirul Islam became destitute.
