Host smell victory in 4-day match

A five-wicket haul by Sanjamul Islam saw Bangladesh A team smell victory against visiting Ireland on the third day of the lone four-day match held on Friday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
The host’s need — more run to win the match — wicket in hand with one more day to go after they began their second innings on the third day afternoon and lost two quick wickets to chase the winning target set by Ireland A team.
Earlier, Bangladesh resumed their second innings with overnight score at 322 for 6 and finally all out for 377 in reply to Ireland first innings total of 255. Thanks to opener Sadman Islam’s brilliant 108-run knock.
Trailing 82 runs in the first innings, Ireland suffered batting debacle in their second innings and eventually all out for 213, setting a paltry victory target of 132 for Bangladesh. Opener James Shanon top scored with 90 runs for Ireland.
Apart from Sanjamul’s 5 for 90, Mahadi Hasan finished 3 for 48 runs.

The host took 67 runs important first innings lead after the close of second day’s play and they have still four wickets in hand.
Opener Sadman contributed 108 off 219 balls laced with 15 boundaries and first shared 137-runs second wicket stand with his skipper Nazmul Hossain and again 69-run with Yasir Ali who added 69 runs, after Bangladesh resumed their first innings on the second day with overnight score at 38 for 1.
Later, middle order batsman Nurul Hasan (51 n.o) composed a brilliant 50 to stand as night watch batsman on the crease and added 66 runs partnership with Mahadi Hasan (45) for the sixth wicket stand to guide his side to a strong position.
Sanzamul Islam was the other unbeaten batsman with 4 runs on the crease as the bails were drawn for the day.
Nathan Smith and Andrew McBrine shared two wickets each conceding 42 and 63 runs respectively.
