Activities suspended: Hospital without licence

The government on Monday suspended the activities of Mohona Hospital on Green Road in Dhaka for running without licence.
The suspension order came after a team from health ministry visited the hospital to probe the allegation brought against it after the death of Journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury.
When the team led by Joint Secretary Mosharraf Hossain went to visit the hospital, the authorities failed to show its licence, Parikshit Chowdhury, Public Relations Officer of the ministry, said.
After renowned journalist Zaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, 66, died in a tragic road accident in the capital’s Karwan Bazar on Saturday night, he was taken to the hospital at first.
Later, He was taken to Comfort Nursing Home Private Ltd, where doctors declared him dead.
It had been alleged that the doctors of Mohona Hospital were slow in treating Zaglul. They conducted a CT scan and found brain hemorrhage.
 “He needed incentive care for recovery and since the intensive care unit is not at our hospital, we suggested for shifting to a hospital with the ICU facility,” Tofazzal Hossan, Manager of the hospital, said on the night of Zaglul’s death.
Meantime, the hospital authorities have been asked to shift all its patients to other clinics or hospitals in Dhaka immediately, PRO Parikshit said.
The team visited the hospital at the instruction of Health Minister Mohammad Nasim.
