After working for eight years only, third class employee Zakir Hossain of city’s Neuroscience Hospital has become the owner of several houses, cars and crores of Taka.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the Ministry of Health are investigating sources of his illegal assets. He is currently on the run.
Neuroscience Hospital also did not speak about this issue.
Health expert Dr. Benazir Ahmed thinks it is the failure of the authorities to take immediate action after receiving the complaint.
Zakir Hossain, the accountant of Neuroscience Hospital, is similar to past Malek driver of the health sector.
According to sources, Zakir joined the health service in 2012 and became millionaire shortly as getting Aladdin’s fortune lamp in his hand.
According to ACC documents, Zakir has three more flats, two luxurious buildings in Kalyanpur and a 60 feet road in the capital.
There are several plots in Dhaka Udyan and three vehicles in Savar. Media tried to know Zakir’s statement on this issue but he could not be reached.
It is learned that a private channel RTV reporter tried to visit the hospital, but Authorities barred journalist entering into the hospital.
On the other hand, Zakir was not found in his flat on the Madrasa Road in Kalyanpur even after going for 5 days. When media tried to meet with Zakir’s father, he did not allow journalists to enter the house.
Sources said that Zakir’s wife also works at the Neuro Science Hospital and his mother-in-law at the Ministry of Health. On condition of anonymity, some employees of the same hospital complained that Zakir built a mountain of wealth illegally by managing the upper officials.
The hospital authorities did not take any action against Zakir despite a letter from the health department regarding the illegal assets.
In this regard, the Director of the National Institute of Neurosciences Professor Dr. Kazi Deen Mohammad said, “I can’t say anything,” The concern ministry is investigating the matter. Health expert Professor Dr. Benazir Ahmed said that whenever there was a complaint against someone in the mass media, the organization should take action through an internal investigation.
It is a crime not to give information about misdeeds in the right way and not to take action too. Besides, the conscious community demanded immediate action against the accused.
