Tarash (Sirajganj) Correspondent :
Horse carts are the only means of transporting paddy from the remote areas of Tarash in Sirajganj. Farmers of the upazila, especially in Bilanchal, are cutting boro paddy from the land and bringing it home by horse-drawn carriage. This horse carriage is the only vehicle due to labor crisis in the area. Not only in the case of transporting paddy, people are also transporting goods in all areas of the upazila.
Liton Ahmed, a resident of the upazila, said, “In the past, we have seen bullock carts and buffalo carts transporting these bullets.” And in people’s marriages, it was the tradition to take the groom in this horse-drawn carriage. But at present this horse carriage is the only way to transport all kinds of goods including agricultural products. So the bullock cart, the buffalo cart is on the verge of extinction in the evolution of time.
Speaking to the locals, it is learned that horse carts are currently the only means of transporting goods to the traders, including the transportation of goods by the people of Bilanchal. If there is a possibility of submergence of paddy in the irrigated land of Bilanchal due to rains, there is also a labor crisis. No mechanical vehicle is running as there is no water in the land. At this time the farmer has no choice but to ride the only horse-drawn carriage.
Horse-drawn carriages are being used to transport crops from one place to another. These horse-drawn carriages run on small motor tire wheels. The various products produced in the region can be easily transported from some places to other vehicles, but in many places they have to suffer due to poor transportation conditions. So there is a demand for horse carriages. This horse carriage can transport 300 to 500 grains of paddy.
Horse drivers say they usually make horse-drawn carriages with old wheels of microbuses. It costs 15-16 thousand rupees to make each car. It costs another 30-35 thousand rupees to buy a horse. The daily income is 1500-2000 rupees. They bear the expenses of the world with it.
