Chairman of the Cricket Operations Committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Akram Khan said, ” I hope the wickets of Mirpur will be good. Our players played recently in those wickets, which were slower as in that time the wickets acted such kind of response due to the conditions and the weather of that time. But now the wickets of this time are good enough. We arrange Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket, Bangladesh Championship League (BCL), Dhaka Premier League. The wickets of Mirpur got break. Our players will play Chattogram also. I hope the wickets will be sporting.”
Akram Khan talked to the journalists marking the up coming three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches and two Test matches against Pakistan. Bangladesh will take on Pakistan in the 1st T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur on November 19, face Pakistan in the 2nd T20I at the same venue on November 20, play against Pakistan in the third T20I at the same venue on September 22. The hosts will take on Pakistan in the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from November 26 to November 30. Bangladesh will play the second Test against Pakistan in the second Test from December 4 to December 8 at the SBNCS. Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket team arrived in Dhaka on Saturday last to play three T20Is and two Test matches against Bangladesh.
It may be mentioned that Bangladesh showed a dismal performance in their ICC T20 World Cup campaign. Earlier, Bangladesh defeated Australia by 4-1 in the five-match T20I series and beat New Zealand by 3-2 in the five-match T20I series at SBNCS.
The cricket critics of the country blamed Bangladesh team for playing slower wickets against those teams.
But Akram Khan hinted that the cricketers of Bangladesh failed to show positive approach and they were also undone for their dissatisfactory performance in their T20 World Cup campaign.
Akram said, ” Pakistan played really well in the T20 World. They are good side. It will be a tough task for our team to compete against Pakistan in the upcoming series.”
