The honorary crests ‚ distribution function was held at National Institute of Technology on Sunday.
The newly- selected Assessors of RPL(Recognition of Prior Learners) was given crest at a function held in city on Sunday.
NIT Chairman Ahsan Habib was present as Chief Guest. The slogan of the function was ‘ Technical Education may give Economic Freedom’.
The chief guest in his brief address said there are more than 50% people of the country are either illiterate or half educated and these people are compelled to work in garage, workshops, shops or informal sectors and proved themselves as competent worker. The illeterate informal sector workers deprieved of proper remunerations from their employers lack of competency certificates .
Under the project of Education Ministry, Dhaka UCEF Training nominated 22 such workers across the country and were given 8 days training from January 17-24 last . These workers were given CPT (competency based training) and out of the 22, 8 successed in the training. Out of successful 8, 5 students from National Institute of Technolocy (NIT,) Chittagong achieved success, sources said. Principal of NIT Priya Lal Dey presided over the memoir distribution function . Among others, Advisor of Communication & Mobilisation Affairs of STEP Project funded by World Bank, sources said.
