A 5-day Honey Fair began at Daffodil International University (DIU) Auditorium on Sunday. Bangladesh Small Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) and Daffodil International University jointly organized the Honey Fair.
Secretary, Ministry of Industries Mohammad Mosharrof Hossain Bhuiyan inaugurated the fair as chief guest while Mustak Hassan Md. Iftekhar, Chairman, BSCIC and Fokhrul Islam Munshi, President, Bangladesh Agro Processors Association (BAPA) graced the occasion as special guests. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, DIU presided over the program. The program was also addressed by Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director (Student Affairs), Abu Taher Khan, Director (Incubation and Innovation Center of DIU and Aminuzzaman, Director, BSCIC.
The objective of this fair is to create awareness about the nutrition value of pure honey, its potential role in human body to keep up good health, processing and preservation technique of honey among mass people. Naturally collected pure honey will be sold in the fair in competitively lower price than market.
A total of 32 honey cultivators are participating in the fair and they all are registered member of BSCIC. The fair will be remain open every day from 09.00 am to 8.00 pm.
Industry Secretary Mohammad Mosharrof Hossain Bhauyan said, the growth of the production of honey is possible through proving logistic supports to its cultivators and for this the procedure of the loan facilities of the BSCIC should be made easier. Beside this, SME Foundation’s loan procedures also should be easier.
He said, there is not much campaign about honey in our country, but campaign should be increased and Foney Fair can play a vital role in this regards. He stressed on to organize honey fair in international level also.
BSCIC Chairman Mustak Hassan Md. Iftekhar said, BSCIC has lots of planning for honey like ensuring its purity, branding and marketing promotion and also exporting in foreign countries. Now the main task of BSCIC is to export honey in foreign countries and for this BSCIC is specially looking after the processing procedures of honey, he aded.
