Campus Report :
One of the top English Medium Schools in Bangladesh, Cardiff International School, Dhaka (CISD) has taken an honesty learning initiative for CISD students to inspire them to practise honesty which they will practise throughout their life.
The ‘Honesty Shop’ is established to develop the sense of honesty among students. Students will get their necessary books, copies, pens and other stationeries at a reasonable price from this shop. The exceptional feature of this shop is that there will be no shopkeeper inside the shop. Price will be tagged on different items of the stationeries. Students will take their necessary stationeries and will pay in the cash box. They will also take the changes of their own. In this way, students will learn about honesty and ethics.
In the inaugural ceremony of the “Honesty Shop” recently, Principal Head of School said, “This shop is established to develop the practice of honesty, ethics and to avoid unethical acts.” He also added, “Honesty is not the best policy; rather it is the only policy.”
The chief guest of the Ceremony, Ex.-Vice Chancellor of BUET and the president of Bangladesh Ethics Foundation, Prof Dr Iqbal Mahmood said, “This kind of exceptional initiative of Cardiff International School Dhaka is really praiseworthy. Honesty and ethics can be developed only through practice and awareness. We need to practise honesty and ethics in every stage of our society so that the future generation of our country can become honest and ethical.” Among others Chairman of CISD and Director of Babylon group, SM Emdadul Islam, ex-member, University Grants Commission, Prof Dr Ehsanul Haque and eminent Prof Amena Begum were present.
After the programme, the chief guest officially launched the shop by cutting the shiny red ribbon. Parents highly appreciated and praised about this initiative of CISD. The students were also happy and excited about this shop.
Cardiff International School Dhaka in association with the Bangladesh Ethics Foundation has implemented this honesty-learning project. Honesty Shops are launched on two campuses of CISD, in turn; it will be established on other campuses as well.
