The holy Shab-e-Barat, the Muslims consider as ” the night of fortune” was observed in the port city of Chittagong as elsewhere in the country with due religious fervor and solemnity on Tuesday.
The Muslims in Chittagong city and its adjacent district spent sleepless night at mosques and homes, offering prayers, reciting from the holy Quran and seeking divine blessings for long life, peace, progress and happiness for themselves, their families, relatives and friends as well as the nation and the Muslim Ummah.
Muslim devotees also spent the whole night at mosques and shrines of Muslim saints offered prayers, zikir, milad mahfils and participated in discussions on the importance of the day.
Huge Muslim devotees were seen visiting the mazars of famous saints here like the mazars of Hajrat Shah Amanat Shah ( R), Hajrat Garibullah Shah (R) and Hajrat Bayezeed Bostami ( R).
The devotees distributed food items and sweets among the neighbors and the poor. Many devotees observed fasting throughout the day today on the occasion of holy Shab-e-Barat.
The Muslims consider Shab-e-Barat as one of the three most sacred nights and believe that on this night Almighty Allah writes the fate of all human beings fixing their ‘rizq’ (livelihood) for the coming year.
