Defending champion South Korea remained winless in the super -4 stage of the Hero 10th Men’s Asia Cup Hockey as their 2nd super league match against former champions Pakistan ended in a 1-1 draw at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Thursday.
South Korea, which managed a four-team super league berth as the Pool B runners-up losing to spirited Malaysia by 1-2 goals, also made 1-1 draw against favorite India in the super-4 opener on Wednesday.
After the day’s super four match, Malaysia topped list securing full three points from one match, Korea followed the leader collecting two points from two matches while India and Pakistan bagged one point each playing one and two matches respectively.
In the day’s match, Ejaz Ahmed put Pakistan ahead in the 15th minute, the last minute of the first quartet, by a reverse hit (1-0) while Lee Namyong leveled the margin for Korea in the 48th minute utilizing a push of Lee Seungil (1-1)
Earlier, a reverse hit of Korean Cho Suk Hoon saved by Pakistan custodian in the 5th minute, Atiq Muhammad of Pakistan failed convert a Qadir hit in the 10th minute, Atiq Muhammad sent the ball wide finding opponent custodian alone in the 15th minute, Ejaz Ahmed’s weak hit from close went to opponent custodian in the 27th minute, Kim Youngjin failed a connect an angular hit of Lee Namyong in the 31st minute and Qadir finally spoiled another chance in the 46th minute despite of Korean defense lapse
