The Bangladesh national hockey team will travel to India and South Korea in June and July as a part of their preparation ahead of the Asian Games, which will be held in Jakarta from August 18 to September 2.
Talking to BSS on Tuesday, Bangladesh Hockey Federation’s general secretary Abdus Sadeque said the hockey team will first travel to India to play eight preparatory matches — four matches against the Indian national team, three matches against Bangalore XI and one match against Indian Army hockey team — in Bangalore during June 27 to July 8 in India.
After coming back home from India, the hockey team will then tour to South Korea from July 25 to August 2 and will play five warm-up matches against Korean national hockey team, Abdus Sadeque added.
“Actually we initially invited the Korea to come here to play a few matches against Bangladesh as part of our Asian Games preparation, but the Korean hockey federation, instead, requested us to travel in Korea. It’s nice that they will provide all facilities to us including the air-fare and we accepted their proposal.”
The hockey’s general secretary said the national team’s camp will begin on June 20 under the supervision of Malaysian coach Gobinathan Krishnamurthi.
