History Olympiad at JU

The selection round of Bangladesh History Olympiad’s first edition began on ahangirnagar University campus on Friday with much enthusiasm and interest.
Braving incessant rain, around 400 students from 30 schools and colleges took part in the Savar regional round.
A total of 40 students were announced winners at the Olympiad.
The selected history-enthusiasts from third to twelfth graders will participate in the final round of the History Olympiad.
The History Olympiad with the slogan ‘Nijer Shekorke Jano, Nijeke Shomriddho Koro (Know your roots, enrich yourself)’ has begun throughout the country to make history interesting among the students. Through regional rounds, a national team will be formed to take part in the fourth edition of International History Olympiad to be held in 2020.
Liberation War-based organisation Mukto Asor arranged the regional rounds of History Olympiad in association with Bangladesh History Olympiad Committee.
Bangladesh History Olympiad Committee President Selina Hossain, along with the Principal of Jahangirnagar University School and College, inaugurated the competition.
“History upholds the identity of a nation. You’ll be able to cement your position when you know about your history and your identity,” said Selina Hossain in her speech.
JU’s History Department’s Associate Professor Emran Jahan said, “History is the pride of a nation. Enriching yourself through practicing history is an important task which can be smoothened by this kind of competition.”
Dean of JU Arts and Humanities Faculty Prof Mozammel Haque also spoke on the occasion.
