History beckons Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium

Not only our Cricketers hogged international headlines but also history beckons Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) which was established in 2006 as it is on the brink of setting a new record in the coming week.
SBNCS is known internationally as Home of Bangladesh cricket team. This unique ground has the privilege to host 98 ODIs and the Tri-nation ODI tourney is going to be played here from today.
Bangladesh’s match against Zimbabwe, the tri-nation series opener to be held today will be the 99th ODI at this ground while the match between Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe will see SBCNS walk into the history as they will be hosting their 100th ODI.
The first One-Day -International was played in SBNCS on December 8, 2006 with host Bangladesh taking on Zimbabwe.
Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Sydney Cricket Ground, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Harare Sports Club and Colombo’s R.Premadasa Stadium are the other popular grounds which have hosted more than 100 ODIs.
However, Sher-e-Bangla national stadium, named after the celebrated National leader A.K Fazlul Huq will be walking into history as they will be hosting 100 ODIs and too by becoming the fastest to reach this coveted mark.
