The historic 7th March was observed in Bagerhat District Town and it’s all the nine Upazilas as elsewhere of the country on Monday in a befitting manner with a vow to materialize the dream of the Father of the Nation and architect of independence Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibor Rahnan.
Marking the day, Bagerhat District Administration as well as Bagerhat District Unit of Bangladesh Awami League chalked out elaborate programmes. In the morning a grand rally that was brought out mainly by the school students wearing Mujb coats from the local Saltala Zila Parishad auditorium premises paraded the main thoroughfares of the district town ended at the local central Shaheed Minar. At about 8-30 am A N M Faizul Haq, DC, Bagerhat, K M Ariful Haq, Police Super of Bagerhat and Adv. Hemayet Hossain Bhuiya, General Secretary of Bagerhat district Awami League (AL) placed the floral wreaths at Bangabandhu’s portrait, situated in front of the central Shaheed Minar respectively. Other high officials of the district and different socio-cultural organizations placed the floral wreaths at the portrait. School students who brought out the rally wearing Mujib coats also placed the wreaths at the portraits. A number of students delivered the historic 7th March speech of the Father of the Nation there.
On the occasion an assembly of Freedom Fighters’, discussion and prize distribution were held in the Sadar Upazila office premises where the speakers said, on this day in 1971, the great leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mijibor Rahman delivered his epoch-making speech of Independence “Ebarer Sangran Muktir Sangram, Ebarer Sangram Swadhinatar Sangram” at the Race Course Maidan, now Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhkaka.
The 7th March speech of Bangabandhu had a sparking effect on the entire population of the then East Pakistan, now Bamgaldesh, and they became united under efficient leadership to bravely fight for the liberation of the motherland from Pakistani rule, they said.
They also lauded Prime Minister Shekih Hasina for achieving UNESCO recognition of historic March 7 speech of Bangabandhu as the world’s documentary heritage on October 30, 2017.
Marking the day, the audio record of historic 7th March speech was played by AL and it’s all the front organizations.
Various institutes, socio-cultural organizations and professional bodies also observed the day through holding different programmes, officials and Al and its all the front organizations. A large number of officials, AL leaders and its associate organizations’ leaders, workers and supporters participated in the programmes.
Gafargaon(Mymensingh) Correspondent reports: A discussion meeting, award distribution and cultural programme were held on Monday at the Upazila Parishad Auditorium in Mymensingh’s Gafargaon Upazila to mark the historic March 7. Gafargaon UNO Md. Abidur Rahman presided over the function.
The meeting was chaired by Upazila Parishad Chairman Ashraf Uddin Badal, Vice Chairman Principal Md. Ataur Rahman, Women Vice Chairman Reshma Akter, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Kaberi Roy, Gafargaon Police Station OC Faruk Ahmed, Pagla Police Station. OC Md. Rasheduzzaman, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Rafiqul Islam Bhuiyan, Upazila Education Officer (Acting) Salma Akter, Bir Muktijoddha Salimullah Mostafa, Mofiz Ahmed, Nasir Uddin Moni and this program was conducted by Upazila Assistant Education Officer Md. Sabuj Miia.
Later, Bangabandhu’s speech, drawing and quiz competition of school-college students was held organized by Gafargaon Upazila Administration. At the end, prizes are distributed among the contestants.
BSS from Rangpur says: The historic March 7 was celebrated here with huge enthusiasm on Monday paying a rich homage to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with a renewed pledge for building a developed Sonar Bangla.
 The divisional, district and police administrations, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13, other government departments, Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies and other organisations chalked out programs marking the day.
 The District Shilpokola Academy, Rangpur City Corporation and different educational institutions separately organized competitions for children and distributed prizes among winners of the competitions marking the day.
The celebrations began with hoisting of national flag followed by placing of wreaths at the portrait and mural of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Square followed by daylong programs chalked out by the administrations, different organizations and institutions.
Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Range Police Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mohd Abdul Alim Mahmud and Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan, Superintendent of Police Md. Ferdous Ali Chowdhury and former Rangpur district unit Commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad heroic freedom fighter Mosaddek Hossain Bablu placed wreaths at Bangabandhu’s mural in the city.
Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa with high officials and City Councilors of Rangpur City Corporation placed wreaths there.
 The district administration organized the main discussion at the Town Hall auditorium with the Deputy Commissioner in the chair.
