The historic 7th March, commemorating the epic-making speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the Race Course Maidan (now Suhrawardy Udyan) in 1971, was observed in different universities of the district on Wednesday.
Chittagong University (CU) observed the day with renewed pride as UNESCO has recently recognised Bangabandhu’s speech as world’s documentary heritage. CU Pro VC Prof Dr Shirin Akter along with deans of faculties put wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu in the morning. Chairmen, Directors, Proctor, Assistant Proctor and Officials of the university also paid tribute.
Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Science University (CVASU) VC Prof Dr Gowtam Buddha Das along with teachers, students and staff paid a floral tribute in front of Bangabandhu’s mural on the campus in the morning. Chittagong University of Engineers and Technology (CUET) VC Prof Dr Rafiqul Alam, teachers, students and officials brought out a rally in the morning and paid floral tribute at the altar of Bangabandhu mural marking the historic 7th March.
